Each items consists out of pre-configured input fields depending of the item category. To edit an item just click in the field you want to modify. The editor will be activated. The following field types exists:

You can type your text and style it using the buttons or keyboard shortcuts.

You can also drag and drop images or files into the editor. Images will be shown as image scaled to down to have at most 18cm width, files as downloadable hyperlinks.

Smart links

You can just type any item identifier inside the text box (e.g. REQ-12). When in read mode or in reports this will be transformed into a hyperlink point to the item.

Besides the basic formatting tools the following tools exist:

This can be useful if you copy and paste text from a web site or a word document. It will remove some of the fonts and styles used in that document. Be aware that this is a feature of your web-browser and only works to a certain degree. For nicely formatted documents it is better to copy and paste the text first into Notepad.

when cutting and pasting text from WORD of a web browser, nearly all formatting will be removed by default in order to ensure it can be included nicely in reports. After pasting something the icon will turn orange, allowing to undo this. The icon stays orange until you change something else.

Image Modified Smart text tool
This tool allows you to define text macros and reuse them in the rich text controls. For example you can define a tag product with a value "My Product Name" and insert this anywhere in rich text controls. When editing a rich text field it will show up as "product" when viewing or printing it as "My Product Name".
This can also be useful insert larger text sections, like the intended use in controlled documents. If the tag contains only simple characters and no formatting. It can also added in the word template, e.g. in the header or footer.

Note

This tool is only available when editing existing items. It does not show when creating new items, neither when editing table content.T

Allows you to edit the text in a full screen view.

Allows you to see and edit the html code which is behind the formatted text.

Note

The look of the rendered text can also be modified by applying style sheets. Ask us for details.

References control
Shows existing down traces and allows to create new traces

Using the references control you can enter traces to items which are derived from the item you are editing (down traces), e.g. from requirements to specification:

To add references: click on the Create ... button, to select already existing item click on the Select button.

It is also possible to add image or other formatted text into the table cells. When editing a table cell press shift enter and a rich text editor will pop up.

Test results for each step can be added using a drop down menu or a keyboard shortcut.

The risk control allows to enter risk related information. The details that are entered and the formulas to compute the overall risk level can be configured.
